First Line Management of Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis
GLA:D is the most highly recognised worldwide education and exercise intervention for those with hip and knee osteoarthritis.
On average, engagement in this program achieves an average pain reduction of 36%, reduced reliance on pain medications, reduced perceived need for surgery and a significant improvement in self-reported joint confidence – all of this within just 6 weeks.
The 6 week program consists of:
- Baseline testing to be completed 1:1 with your physiotherapist. This comprises of a series of functional testing and questionnaires regarding your pain and disability.
- A 6-week exercise rehabilitation block; to be completed 2x weekly.
- Each exercise session is supervised by a physiotherapist; with all exercises individually tailored to each participant. As you improve throughout your 6-week intervention your program will be suitably progressed to ensure your continual improvement.
- Post course retesting of your baseline. These results are shared with a worldwide database which constantly evaluates the effectiveness of the program.
We currently offer the GLA:D program in a 1:1 delivery, or alternatively in a group setting as part of our exercise classes.
